The Fund for International Collaboration
The Fund for International Collaboration (FIC) aims to enhance the UK’s excellence in research and innovation through global engagement. The FIC focuses on bilateral and multilateral partnerships with global research and development (R&D) leaders. The FIC is administered by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
The fund was first announced in the UK government’s Industrial Strategy White Paper in November 2017 with funding of £110 million.

The MRC and the FIC
The MRC are involved in a number of FIC calls and initiatives supporting international research collaborations. These calls will be run in collaboration with a range of research funding organisations from countries outside the UK. In some cases the calls will also be in collaboration with other councils within UK Research and Innovation. The scientific areas and countries covered by each initiative will be specified in the call documents.
