Choosing the right fellowship

Choosing the right fellowship

This page provides advice on how to submit an application and links to guidance about the MRC’s range of fellowships.

The MRC offers a range of fellowships to support biomedical researchers and academic clinicians at a variety of career stages through our non-clinical, clinical and skills development fellowship schemes.

The applicant skills and experience table gives an overview of the eligibility criteria for the schemes available, and all applicants should familiarise themselves with the Guidance for Fellowship Applicants (PDF, 810KB) when preparing an application. Information about each scheme can be found on the relevant webpages, and a series of FAQs addressing common questions about each scheme is available.

Equal opportunities

There are no time bound eligibility criteria or age limits for any of our schemes and all fellowships may be held part-time to fit in with domestic responsibilities. As part of the MRC's equal opportunities policy, full consideration will be given to applicants returning to research following a career break. Applications from applicants based overseas looking to join a UK research organisation are welcome, though some residency requirements apply for pre-doctoral applicants. Please see the Fellowship Application Guidance for further details.
