Collaboration highlights

Given the global threat posed by antimicrobial resistance, it is perhaps not surprising that 61 per cent of MRC-funded AMR researchers reported new collaborations made as a result of their funding. This compares favourably to the total MRC award portfolio, where 43 per cent of awards have new collaborations attributed.

Of those MRC-funded AMR researchers reporting new collaborations, just over half are made with international partners from 33 countries (see Figure 4).

A total of 228 unique new collaborations have been reported by MRC-funded researchers working on AMR research awards, 135 within the last five years. Of these 66 (49 per cent, in red) were within the UK, 21 (16 per cent, in orange) with partners in the US, and the remaining 36 per cent of new collaboration reports are distributed across 25 countries globally (colour range yellow-blue) and transnational organisations (e.g. EU, WHO)
