Health Data Research UK (HDR UK)
HDR UK is the national institute for biomedical and health-related data science and a Registered Charity. It is core funded by a consortium of nine funders led by MRC and including Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), Health and Care Research Wales, Chief Scientist Office of the Scottish Government Health Directorates, Health and Social Care (HSC) Public Health Agency (Northern Ireland), Wellcome Trust and British Heart Foundation.
Working in partnership with academia, the NHS and other public sector organisations, industry and third sector across all four nations of the UK, HDR UK seeks to unite the UK’s rich biomedical and health-related data to enable discoveries that will transform people’s lifelong health and wellbeing.
As well as undertaking cutting edge data science research to tackle difficult health-related challenges that require collective effort across the UK, HDR UK convenes UK-wide expertise and opinion to inform the future strategic direction of UK biomedical and health-related data science research and innovation, UK policy development and the UK’s current and future data science infrastructure needs.
HDR UK is UKRI’s delivery partner in the ISCF Digital Innovation Hub Programme, part of the “Data to Early Diagnosis and Precision Medicine Challenge” (From data to early diagnosis and precision medicine challenge – UKRI). This comprises three key strands supporting UK research and innovation in biomedical and health-related data science:
