International Research

The aim of the MRC’s International research is to provide international leadership in partnerships which enhance the competitiveness of the UK knowledge and health base and to influence the international research agenda. The MRC also represents the UK on the governing bodies of international biomedical research organisations ensuring UK scientists have access to the best opportunities for establishing new global partnerships and to international research infrastructures.

To help boost international and interdisciplinary research collaboration. An online directory of low and middle income (LMIC) population studies has been established. The directory aims to enhance opportunities for collaboration across the globe and complements the existing UK Cohort Directory.

  • through our units, institutes, and centres; grants; fellowships including increasing support for Global Health research in response mode
  • through strategic partnerships with other funders for impact in health research
  • through working with other research councils to fund multidisciplinary research into global health areas
