MRC launch Experimental Medicine Panel
29 Jul 2020
MRC is pleased to announce a new Experimental Medicine Panel, which will meet regularly to enhance the MRC’s current translational offering.
The Panel will support ambitious, academically-led applications of varying sizes focused on hypothesis-led interventional human studies. Through this new funding call, with an annual budget of >£10 million, the Experimental Medicine Panel will provide the dedicated and sustained support needed to drive our understanding of disease pathogenesis and enable the development of new targeted treatments.
Glenn Wells, MRC Director of Strategy and Planning, said: “Throughout its history in discovery and translational research, MRC funding has always supported the community to push the boundaries of medical science and our understanding and ability to treat disease. As technology and tools develop, it is only right that we provide funding that will support the use of these techniques to advance our understanding of disease in humans, and through this work to accelerate the translation of research findings into the clinic.”
The first call will open on 29 July 2020 and, after a two-stage application process, the first awards will be made in March 2021. For more information on the call remit and application process, please visit the Experimental Medicine funding call page.
